Missing feature in PEGA 7: Process Instance Manager

There may be many more features which PRPC doesn't have. May be the work on it is in progress with product team or may be Pega never felt to have one such thing.

As a developer or the production system admin or a manager role in an prpc application, you may want to have a visibility of the business process. The over all business processes created in the system till date, the business processes running now, business processes that are suspended, business processes in waiting state.

Something like this,

We can also get all these info by running OTB list views from Work-, Assign- etc. but still a view like this would certainly be useful.

Couple of days back, when i had been to Pega Developer Conference 2013, i talked the team at the Designer Studio booth and they took the advice with grace. They said, they never thought about it, its a very important feature to include and would certainly take the input.

Talking to players on the field....

Talking to the players on the field....what the hell of sense is this? In IPL season, the players on the field are made to talk to the commentators and answer their funny and yet some stupid questions. These questions can wait till the end of the game. But, what sort of culture is this? The players should be there fully concentrated and reserve their energies and thoughts on the match.

But recent times, IPL has made cricket as a mere circus with lot of entertaining feats and just for entertainment and very less of cricket game. Even the umpires and even the referee has turned a blind eye on this act. I really feel this a completely sick act. I think, its high time that some authority intervene and stop this insane act to just popularize the show. I don't know, if there any game rules that restrict any sort of interference/disturbances to the players on the field when the game is ON.

Sources of motivation at work

As an adage goes, all fingers of one hand are not the same, similary no two individuals think in the same manner. One may not have some opinion on a matter as other.

So, while handling a team, we better understand what are the source of motivation for each in there. One source motivation may not be so high degree of motivation to other or may mean nothing at all to another.

For any employee or member to service beyond call of the duty, there certainly has to be a source of motivation. I mean like a yummy cheese cake to a child. And these cheese cake demands varies from one to one.
Appraisals/Bonus: Only money means me and nothing else. I dont care whether you appreciate or give me a onsite oppurtunity or give me long speeches. I just need money and only with that you can expect me to work in more & more effecient way. Some people may call him a mean fellow, but not me. I dont find it completely wrong in this. After all, at the end of the day, we work for money and for our living. So, whats wrong? But, one should be cautious that he doesn't cross the thin line of selfishness.

Public Appreciation: Some are so obsessive of the point that, just mere appreciation satisfies them and motivates them. When some are satisfied with just appreciation, some individuals may not be easy to go with demands public appreciation. This is very typical of any human being.

Better career oppurtunities: Aspirations vary from individual to individual and also for the same individual from time to time. Better career opps means a better role, or an onsite oppurtunity or better work environment etc. This completely depends on family conditions and personal situations.

Motivational speeches: I believe, this is the least effective of all above. Mostly these speeches help to achieve the extra mile in crucial times but not always. I better keep these for some other day. But, we generally witness those in cases like, when the project is shelved or you are moved to on-bench or passing through some thin times. When the management talks and starts with these, realize, we are screwed or at the edge of a cliff.

Responsibility: Responsibility is very important for all employees. Unless until you make them responsible for some deliveries or you explicitly tell them ,"Hey...I count on you this time!!", they are not going to get the required motivation.

Love your Kidney -- It's as important as your Heart

It's World Kidney Day. Do you love your kidney? Do you know the purpose of Kidneys in our body? How to service them regularly? I may not sound sensible to some people who have a healthy kidney and never come across people who have a kidney problem.

You can google on the purpose kidneys and you will know the importance of them. Do you service them regularly? What i mean is this,

Watch the complete series of videos from Sri. Dr. Manthena Satyanaraya Raju. It may not take more than a couple of hours, but still, its a very educative video which can change your thinking about the intake of water and the advantages of drinking water in the right quantity which can keep our kidneys healthy.

So, on this World Kidney Day, take oath that we will do the needful actions to keep our kidney healthy and thus have a happy living. An adage says, "You will not come to know the importance of peace of mind until you loose it", so lets not wait till we loose our peace of mind and get struck with any such health problems.

Roadies Passion....!!

I like watching this show. But not mad of this it. But i track the happenings right from the auditions to the finale. Realistic, may be scripted, but who cares as far it entertains me. In all these days, seeing the crowds for auditions and all i used to think, "After all its just a tv show!!"

But after watching this guy, Aniket's Roadies X audition, my view on this show has changed. This guys has given auditions for Roadies since its second season. i.e. Roadies 2, Roadies 3, Roadies 4, Roadies 5, Roadies 6, Roadies 7, Roadies 8, Roadies 9 and now Roadies X. Though he didnt get to be a roadie but hats off to this fellow for his perseverance despite of all the failures!!!

For me its just a show. But for somebody this may be a passion to be there. How a person can become so so so passionate about anything like this guy?

His words, "Yeh show kya hain. Woh toh bol dho? " really touched me.

Generally bullshitting Raghu sounds sensible with this argument. But only one thing, just because of his age, and his failures in the past 8 auditions ignoring him is kinda of wrong. He should have atleast tried checking with him their regular audition tricks and all.

Gruesome bomb blast in Hyderabad

14 dead and more than 40 seriously injured.

Its a serial bombing of 2 bombs. Gruesome terrorist attack happened in Hyderabad today. It happened in a densely populated and crowded and very very busy location, Dilsukhnagar. Its a major city transit for most of the areas. It happened at a peak time 7:00PM to 7:30PM. An end of the day, when citizens, tired...exhausted trying to reach home has been chosen strategically by these culprits. What an gruesome act?!

The media and FM radio is doing their job posting the news up to time. The visuals in channels are really horrible. Body parts scattered, blood spilt all over the bodies of the, injured being carried to the near by Osmania hospital visuals are really heart touching. The visuals literally left me teary eyed.

These bomb blasts in Hyderabad happened after almost 5 years of Lumbini park bomb blasts. God only knows when & who will stop all these. These bloody terrorists are going in a cycle probably.

We need more Customer Centric Processes - 2 : State Bank Of India

One of my friend transferred some cash from US to my SBI savings a/c, home branched at my native place. As far as i remember, this account was opened long back in 2000. I generally dont use this account but still keep it live with minimum balance and very recently my car loan from SBI(though from different branch) is linked to this savings a/c.

I inturn got into a situation to transfer this balance to one of my friends SBI savings a/c, home branched at Madhapur, Hyd. I issued a cheque favouring my friend savings a/c. The cheque was promptly rejected at the tellers counter stating that the cheque was not a multicity cheque and thus cant be deposited to the account. Firstly, as my savings a/c was opened longback, when i didn't even know the importance of cheque, i didnt know the concept of multicity or local cheque. I never thought of it till this incident.

Next day, i took my identity proofs, passbooks, cheque book etc and visited the madhapur branch again to workout a workaround. There were 3 teller counters.

My friend: Madam! This cheque is from SBI itself. Why cant we deposit the same banks cheque into my account in this branch?

Teller 1: Let me see the cheque? Hmm..see its not a multicity cheque. We cant accept this.

My friend: But its from SBI itself right? Then whats the problem?

Teller: See. Though its from SBI, its not a multicity cheque.

My friend: So?

Teller: So...we can't deposit to the account!! (With a broad smile)

My friend: So, my friends SBI cheque from other location can't be deposited in my account home branched here.

Teller: Yes. If it had been a multicity, we could have done it.

My friend: Lets say, one of my friend from chennai give me a HDFC cheque? What will you do?

Teller: Its a non-local cheque and so we send it for collection. It will get encashed in 2-3 days.

My friend: Then this sbi cheque, though not multicity, why cant you send for collection?

Teller: No sir! we dont accept other locations SBI cheques at all.

My friend: You accept other banks cheques of different locations and send them for collection. But don't accept sbi cheques of different locations?

Teller: Yes sir.

My friend: Why cant you send SBI cheques also for collections like other bank cheques?

Teller: No sir, we dont send other locations SBI cheques for collections.

Myself: Wow! Thats a very good option madam! (Hope they got my sarcacism. And everyone in the queue behind me laughed at this stupid process.)

Isn't this ridiculous? or you call it funny. What ever. SBI accepts cheques of different banks located at different locations(and send them for collection) but not from its own bank of different locations. How stupid!!!

I wonder how these stupid policies are made in first hand? and then get approved from those so-called-white-collared stupid people who decides on things sitting in an air conditioned room sipping cup after cup of coffee!!

I hate you 2012!

I hate you 2012. 2012 didn't start well neither went well nor ended well.

Professionally, financially, personally everything was a flop. Nothing went as planned. In other words, 2012 was an diaster for me.
Professionally, after my shift in employment to my current organization in sep'2011, till dec'11, everything was as i expected and the early 2012 was not bad either. Then the 2nd quarter started then put my plan in gutter. Not much of learning. Not much of earning either, yes, i mean appraisals etc. etc. Though this gave me the ever awaited domain change break, my plan of learning to the neck in the initial days of new thing was out of line due to the project shelving in my organization.

Financially, not very bad. But still bad. The money flow stopped due to uncertain situations. The money seemed to reach me but didnt actually come to my pocket. Share trading i endeavoured was another flop that i cant forget and made me re-thing my spendings. The expenses at home increased due to sudden luxury buyings. I enjoy them but still the typical human mind cant stop fretting about them.

Personally, came as a shocker that i think, i can never recover from. May god bless me strong. I sometimes hoped that the mayan prediction of 21Dec'12 come true. Huhhh!!!

Hope 2013 goes well and put me up on the top again in all aspects. I hope to do the best and hope for the best in all areas.
