IPL - The Indian Premier League, prestigious tournament founded by Lalit Modi in competiton to ICL(Indian Cricket League - which is infact founded by Kapil Dev in alliance with Zee and ended up in a flop) is turning out to be a very tough one to decide on the favourite.
The previous champions of 2008 season looked like to be struggling at the bottom of the point charts at the beginning and now slowly climbed up to the second position. The Deccan chargers which was ended up as a disaster in the previous season looks like its going to reap some profits to Venkat rami reddy, the owner of the chargers. Infact DC was topping the list firstly with 4 consecutive wins and then again it stumbled with 3 consecutive losses and then 1 win again. Coming to the Dare devils, the ultimate toppers always on the chart dont really seems to have a very strong star playersbut the consistency among the team puts them on the favourites list though.
The Rajasthan Royals alias Yousuf Pathan the one man army of the team with a little support from the Greame smith showcases the Royals strongness. "Just send out Yousuf pathan out of field and then the match can be yours" is the statment anyone makes. And one more interesting point to notice about the royals is the captain sharne warne strategy while batting first and while batting second. While chasing a target he puts the Yousuf pathan on the 3rd or 4th down or even 5th down as a WALL, who some how can chase the target in the pressure. Yousuf just hits the ball very hard(donno wat he eats but damn his enery dude!!). This is really a very super strategey while chasing. And while batting first, he will be the 1st or 2nd down who can cleanly hits the ball and place a very gud target for the opponents.
The Chennai kings or probably trying to become Super kings :) - Donno when Suresh Raina came to this super form. Along with the Mathew Hayden, Raina is proving 2 be a trump card for chennai kings this season. The weakness of super kings lies in the bowling ally. Balaji, Jogender Sharma, Sping king muralitharan looks gud but not strong enough to mention against the current favourites. If the chennai kings want to win the championship they certainly have to gear their bowlers up. Here again the importance of the Captain dhoni plays a crucial role. His coolness always on the field is a real advantage to the team.
The Delhi Dare devils are strong at the batting side. Sehwag, Gambhir, Devillers, Dinesh karthik looks the line is strong enough but not enough strong enough to win the championship. But dare devils are topping the chart as of now. If Mcgrath and Asif were playing this season too it wud have been a added advantage to the devils.
The IPL-2009 favourites are Delhi Dare devils, Deccan chargers, Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals.
Wat ever be with this damn IPL, this IPL is really going put the INDIAN team in the spot in the coming up ICC T20 world cup. Infact this IPL is going to be a practice matches for the players for the next coming up world cup. If you look at the probably of the ICC T20 world cup, one new player has to really do thapasya to come in the final squad considering the current form of all the players.
The ideal team for ICC T20 world cup can be:
Sehwag, Gambhir, Dhoni, Yuvraj, Yousuf Pathan, Suresh Raina, RPSingh, Zaheer Khan, Ojha, Haribhajan, Irfan Pathan. Wowww!! Wat a batting line up and the swing bowling attack of RPSingh and Irfanpatha powered by the spin of Ojha and bhajji. The england pitches is going to be a gud deal for the fast swingers though we need to add up on the spin attack. Hope we win this ICC T20 world cup. I just miss Sachin Tendulkar in the squad ofcoz which indian doesnt miss him!!!
